Words on Wednesday

After two cold days, and very heavy rain on Tuesday, the sun is shining brightly again today, lifting everyone’s spirits. After a mood as grey and damp as the weather yesterday, the sun, Pilates, lunch at Shelley Bay Baker on Leeds Street, and some life admin, my mood has lifted considerably. While I will miss the ballet in Hamburg, I was able to pass on the tickets to someone and we have a family party being organised in Stockholm. And as Melissa of Under the Elderberry Tree wished us, hopefully we will have “adventures galore as soon as possible.” Or maybe I should just add this week to the adventure? Anyway, we are rebooked and will leave for Europe on Monday by quite a different route, but hopefully getting to Hamburg just a week later than planned. As the poet said the best-laid schemes o’mice and men gang aft aglay.

Lunch was this excellent salami, provolone and spinach toasted sandwich, just the thing for a mid week café lunch. I read my book, drank my coffee and secretly people watched.

At home, we have been enjoying more yellow dahlias (the red ones were a bit of a disappointment) and all the bees enjoying the hebe and herbs – just look carefully.

In the meantime, it is back to the office tomorrow. For now the adventure is on pause….
