After two cold days, and very heavy rain on Tuesday, the sun is shining brightly again today, lifting everyone’s spirits. After a mood as grey and damp as the weather yesterday, the sun, Pilates, lunch at Shelley Bay Baker on Leeds Street, and some life admin, my mood has lifted considerably. While I will miss the ballet in Hamburg, I was able to pass on the tickets to someone and we have a family party being organised in Stockholm. And as Melissa of Under the Elderberry Tree wished us, hopefully we will have “adventures galore as soon as possible.” Or maybe I should just add this week to the adventure? Anyway, we are rebooked and will leave for Europe on Monday by quite a different route, but hopefully getting to Hamburg just a week later than planned. As the poet said the best-laid schemes o’mice and men gang aft aglay.
Lunch was this excellent salami, provolone and spinach toasted sandwich, just the thing for a mid week café lunch. I read my book, drank my coffee and secretly people watched.
At home, we have been enjoying more yellow dahlias (the red ones were a bit of a disappointment) and all the bees enjoying the hebe and herbs – just look carefully.

In the meantime, it is back to the office tomorrow. For now the adventure is on pause….

Glad you got that sorted out . . . wish those wrecking the world acted as logically and with aforethought . . .

But it’s still about to happen, Barbara. Does someone look after your garden while you’re away, or does it take care of itself? Savour every day! xx

Our neighbours will look after our garden and yes…our adventure will happen.

Again, so very sorry that our terrible leaders brought this upon you and your husband and the world. The past two months have brought such horror that I feel numb. Can’t even feel angry anymore. Hoping, hoping, hoping that the November elections will make a big difference.

I want to watch the news but also don’t want to. Let’s hope for a better future.

I know just what you mean. It’s horrifying. What will the Middle East look like when this over? And how will it spill over to the rest of the world? Sigh.

I’m glad you have managed to rearrange your trip. And that toastie looks and sounds delicious.

Now we have to hope nothing else happens! The toastie was good.

Your sandwiches always look so tasty and the different fillings are interesting. Glad you were able to pass the ballet tickets on. That must be a small comfort.

The sandwich was very good. It is nice to know that two young people will go and enjoy the ballet.

I’m so glad you found a solution. You sound very calm about it all but I bet there were some excitable moments!

I think the fact we were still at home helped a lot – but yes there were several excitable moments!

Oh yes, a friend’s son is stuck in Dubai – that would have been much worse.

I too am glad that you were able to re-book your trip. And I am pleased about your spot of sunshine. Long may that continue.

I think we got lucky with a decent travel agent to sort us out. Hearing other people are having to wait 3 weeks for a flight.

shocking how many people have been affected by this illegal war. And so sad for the families of the dead. Grrrrr… Hope your trip goes well.

It is very disappointing when one’s adventure has to be delayed. I am glad you were able to rebook your flights and manage the ballet tickets. Will you have the same planned number of days for your adventure?

At least we were at home and not at an airport somewhere. We will now have one week less away.

your flowers look beautiful and there are so many disappointed travellers at the moment. It’s a very difficult time. Your salami sandwich looks amazing. Here in North Queensland it’s been wet most days as well, but that’s Summer in the tropics. Have a good week.
