One of the nicest places to spend a little time in is the Lady Norwood Rose Garden, part of the Wellington Botanic Gardens. Work commenced in 1950, with the assistance of the Norwood Family. The garden is named after Lady Norwood and it was opened in 1953.

The Garden contains about 3200 roses covering over 300 varieties in 110 beds if you are interested in the statistics! The Begonia House sits as a backdrop, as can be seen in the featured image. The flowering season starts in November and continues until the end of April.
A trial garden on the western side monitors new varieties for three years before a decision is made on their inclusion in the gardens. In 2015, the Lady Norwood Rose Garden received the Garden of Excellence award from the World Federation of Rose Societies.
Some of these pictures were taken last week, and some today, Wednesday, on the walk home.
So there we have a few of the many roses to be found at the moment in the garden. I am not sure why there are no pictures of any red roses – guess that is for the next time!
