This week’s small pleasures #239
In a week that saw Wellington go back up to Covid Alert Level 2 (extended on Sunday for another 48 hours), closure of the Trans Tasman bubble for a few days, and lots of rain, it has been even more important to think about the small pleasures in life.
Six on Saturday 26.06.21
Oh what a miserable, grey and wet day it is here! Not a day to be out and gardening, or even taking photos for the blog. At least we heard there were no more community cases of Covid-19 after last week’s scare. Keep you fingers crossed for us that it stays like that!
Wednesday in Wellington
A man flew from Sydney to Wellington on Friday evening, local time. He went to his hotel, enjoyed breakfast at a cafe in town, lunch at another one, visited exhibitions, went shopping, enjoyed a drink in a bar. After returning to Sydney on Monday morning, he went for a Covid-19 test which returned positive (he had had his first dose of vaccine).

ng coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would be sitting on this lovely winter’s day, we would be enjoying some Earl Grey tea and a piece of cake I made this morning. I would tell you I saw the first narcissus underneath the gingko tree in the Botanic Gardens this morning. You smile.
Words on Wednesday: the comfort of soup
orthern hemisphere is thinking of salads and strawberries, those of us who live down under are thinking of soups and stews. As we approach the shortest day, and several more weeks until I can walk to work in morning light, our minds turn to those comfort foods that also bring smiles to our faces.
