I’ve been sitting for ages trying to think of a good opening sentence for this week’s small pleasures post. It was a week where we ate out at a favourite restaurant, when it felt that summer was here when we went to Thorndon Fair (not today though…rain again) and when we lit candles to mark the second Sunday in Advent.

For most of 2020, I have made a note each day of three things that have brought me joy, made me smile or just feel grateful for at that particular moment.

It is a grey and windy day here (northerlies at least, but still up to 110km/h) so not a day to be out gardening. Parts of the South Island are having some really awful weather, with gale force winds and heavy rain, so we have got away with things lightly.
