Whenever I start writing a small pleasures post, I start with looking at what photos I have taken during the week. Sometimes they inspire, sometimes there isn’t a lot to report. This week there were lots of small pleasures, including three days of holiday.
Six on Saturday 12.06.21
As we approach the shortest day, the weather remains mild here, with day time temperatures up to 16 or 17C, with nights around 12C. With the odd bits of rain as well, things continue to grow well out there. I’ve been able to get out and tidy a bit, but with so many pots now on the terrace, reaching the ones at the back (sorry curry plant and thyme). I really need a reorganisation somehow!
Words on Wednesday: the comfort of soup
orthern hemisphere is thinking of salads and strawberries, those of us who live down under are thinking of soups and stews. As we approach the shortest day, and several more weeks until I can walk to work in morning light, our minds turn to those comfort foods that also bring smiles to our faces.

The shortest day approaches here in the Southern Hemisphere. It is the season of dark mornings walking to work, cooler days and time to rug up and light candles.

Some weeks are better than others, and what with not feeling particularly well at the start, and then some pretty miserable weather at the end, it wasn’t the best week.

t was a lovely sunny day today, one of those lovely autumn days with bright blue skies. Wednesday is my ‘day off’ now I have moved to a four day week, and today plan was to go to town for a bit of a browse and lunch.
