Today began with sunshine, a lovely change from rainy Thursday but reminiscent of sunny Wednesday. Yes it is spring, when no-one knows what the weather will bring.
After being rather too leisurely with my avocado toast and tea, I just missed my usual bus, but that gave me time to stop and admire the flowers around the bus stop. The camellias and magnolia making the waiting seem short and joyful (it was only 7 minutes anyway).

The office was quiet, as it often is on a Friday. The sound of rapid typing by a colleagues, the rustle of paper and the ‘beep’ of the office door as someone returns from the coffee machine break up the otherwise silent room. There are a couple of meetings in the diary, but otherwise I need to get a couple of reports finished.
I headed out to Tipple in the Nook for one of their sandwich and coffee for NZ$10 lunch deals (chicken today) and to read my book, currently Lianne Moriarty’s Big Little Truths. I then popped into nil for a new waxed food wrap for those days I bring a sandwich for lunch to work and to pick up a leaflet about lunch time events they are hosting during World of Wearable Art. They’ve already prepped their window for that event.
There was a trip to the osteopath late afternoon for a much needed straightening out, then our local butcher on the way home for sausages, black pudding (just because I can’t remember the last time I had some) and, and for Friday’s dinner, schnitzel. The evening saw us on the sofa, making up the week’s menu and shopping list, watching the finale of Masterchef Australia (several weeks after it happened in Australia), and planning the weekend.
The weekend lies ahead….

Even though I am retired, I love Fridays and the idea of a weekend ahead! I began this dull and chilly day by baking banana muffins to have with coffee for breakfast. I plan my meals for the week and draw up my grocery list on Sundays – because our local supermarket gives a pensioner discount on Mondays 🙂 🙂

Freshly baked muffins sound like such a good idea. It makes sense to go shopping on a Monday!

I love following your day. You engage all of our senses! I smiled especially at the sounds of the office and the spectacular wearable art — a fun autumn contrast to the camellias! Slowing down as you did — thank you, avocado toast! — can make all the difference.

I, too, look forward to the weekend even though I am supposedly retired. For us, weekends usually involve movies and friends. Have a good one! Looking forward to reading about what you did.

Thanks Laurie. Saturday is beginning with sunshine at least.

Your Friday evening bottle of wine looks inviting! I am missing mine because John is away, so the weekend is both quiet and busy – quiet because there is only me in the house, and busy because I have a workshop to prepare. A good chance to get it done without distraction.

I hope that the straightening out lasts. It sounds a bit ominous.

Still good today. A monthly tune up does the trick.
