Spring is here, and the days are definitely getting warmer, brighter and the promise of the good things of the season. September is also a time of celebration in our family. My step-son turns 30, and we will celebrate our wedding anniversary towards the end of the month.
As I mentioned on Monday, spring brings with it some wonderful produce. I have the new copy of Dish magazine, and I must pick up Cuisine to read about this year’s ‘hat’ winners – well, I already know most of them but still, I want to read about it a bit more. Ottolenghi’s Simple Too is due out, and as I use Simple a lot, am looking forward to adding yet another cook book to my collection.
The diary shows the Suzanne Vega concert my friend and I bought tickets for months ago, the World of Wearable Art and a morning interview event with author Michelle de Kretser that I am looking forward too. We’ll no doubt get to the cinema one day too.
There are so many books piled up beside the bed, and at least three on my phone/iPad. I finished a book on the bus this morning and am in a quandry as to what to tackle for my weekend reading. I guess I should go with the library books first? But these two look very enticing….
There will also be some spring cleaning and very necessary clutter cleaning in the study which resembles a storage area rather than a room to be used. Don’t ask me if that gets done though!

Fall is arriving here so lots of good meals to make. Plus time to gather with friends whom I haven’t seen in a while. A quick trip to visit with my husband’s brothers and at the end of the month my mom’s 100th birthday. My TBR pile is like yours…suddenly so many books from the library finally appeared! I literally have 6 books on the chair and 2 in Libby…good thing we have about 20+ hours worth of driving in the next 7 days.

Farm Girl turns 19 this month. 19!! Various celebrations planned including a bit of a do with her friends for which the Bean Counter and I (and the dogs) have been banished to the City Campus 😂

The two books you have shown are on my ‘get to’ list also . . . and, reading your September spring plans, methinks you will have quite an enjoyable time! May the temperatures not rise too high tho’ (locally we are meant to get to 30C on the 5th day of spring 🙂 !) – looking at the northern hemisphere’s waning summer has been upsetting . . . ! I hate finishing a good book and working out what to read next. Sounds like a good month for you. We’re only just back and have friends from the UK coming to stay for 10 days next Tuesday, so I have lots of organising and shopping to do. A fairly chilled day today though- just unpacking and meeting friends for lunch. The Mediterranean Diet fair is on in Tavira this weekend and you’d love it! xx

September is a month filled with promise: I am revelling in the signs of spring all around me; our youngest began the month with a birthday and our second eldest granddaughter celebrates her birthday a little later … of course, we have heaps of decluttering to do still in anticipation of our move to a retirement village early next year. Meanwhile, longer days, light rain and bright sunshine along with many birds to watch are just fine with me!

“Spring into September” made me smile. For us, September is synonymous with autumn, Maine’s best season. Hard for me to think of September as spring, but I sure do appreciate my world view being enlarged by my blogging friends.

I did live most of my life in the northern hemisphere so I still have to double take sometimes that September is spring – but it is very obvious when you look out of the window.
