Regular readers will know how much I enjoy food. Eating, reading about it, cooking, listening to podcasts, watching YouTube demonstrations you name it. Anyway, here are a few things we’ve been eating recently.
As warmer weather makes its way to us in the Southern Hemisphere, salads are making a come back, and it will ne time to get out Peter Gordon’s Savour for some ideas. Salads can be as simple as rocket and parmesan with a good dressing or a bit more interesting with fennel, blood oranges, sunflower seeds and microgreens. We had these with a pasta bake made with turkey mince on Sunday.

When we were over in Martinborough the other weekend, I picked up this black truffle spread from Over the Moon. It is a very rich and creamy spread with, as the label says, black truffles. Very delicious, a little goes a long way.

We had salmon on Saturday evening for dinner, this week I roasted it with a mix of soy sauce, ginger and olive oil and very good it was to.

Finally, I picked up this honey infused with ginger the other week from the Thorndon Farmers’ Market. It is absolutely deliciious, dribbled onto toast, but I would love to try it on crumpets…imagine the butter and honey dripping rhrough the holes onto the plate and scooping it up…..

It all looks tasty! We get a truffle butter at our local specialty store. You are so right, a little goes a long ways. It is marvelous in mashed potatoes, and melted and drizzled on oven fries.

You meet food that is alien to me. I love butter and honey and I would never realise that they might have things added to them. Whether good honey and butter need any improving is another matter.

Looks delicious! I’m hesitant to buy new spreads or flavors, because I’m not adventurous with my taste buds. I need to try some thing news and see if I can find a favorite. Ok…maybe I’ll stretch myself further next year. lol

You eat such delicious things! I love the idea of ginger honey. I have had a sort of ginger marmalade in the past and it is a favorite.

I love it! Change of weather means huge changes in menu: different produce, different challenges …
The Ginger Honey sure sounds interesting! The most exciting flavoured honey I’ve tried is truffle honey.
