Creation – the act or process of bringing something into existence.
My word of the year is creation. At first, I took it too literally, focusing on me creating things instead of looking at it in a broader way, of considering bringing things into existence. After all, every we time we plant a seed or a bulb, we are hoping the create a beautiful flower or edible plant.
In fact, it is time for me to create some pickled nasturtium seeds to be enjoyed in a few weeks time as you can see below. This month, I created an Easter feast (link) which we enjoyed with friends, enjoyed a beautiful bouquet created by our neighbourhood florist and a wonderful baked pasta with pork and fennel sausage dish from Sophie Hansen’s In Good Company.
In terms of writing, I created a new journal for writing down blogging and other ideas, partly inspired by this book on creating food writing (I’ll review it later once I finish it). I continued to work on ideas for a second blog, but more of that in the months to come (hopefully!).

Next month is May, time for some autumnal creations….what will they be
Do you have a word of the year? If so what is it?
Thanks to our hosts: Retirement Reflections, Deb’s World, Women Living Well After 50 and And Anyways for setting this up and giving us some great ideas for blog posts.
You can find Thistles and Kiwis on Facebook, and also on Instagram @thistlesandkiwis. As for Twitter….am totally inactive these days. If you want to get in touch, email me on thistlesandkiwis@gmail.com
Those red geraniums in your header look beautiful. I would be lost without my notebook filled with scribbled ideas!

Thank you Carol Ann. I kind of feel like now I have stated it in public I have to give it a go!

Remember: you’re already creating fine food writing. Maybe all you’ll be doing is creating a scaffold around it (and sharing more???).

I love that how you have now looked at your WOTY from a broader perspective. This is a great example for all of us.
I am also intigued by your potential second blog. I look forward to reading more about this.
Thank you for sharing Will Write For Food. That sounds like a book that I would greatly enjoy.

This is great news and being creative is a great way to embrace your WOTY – isn’t it funny how we can think too literally but then it dawns on us to broaden it and we see so much more than we had first thought possible? I love how that happens 🙂 All the best for your new project and happy May and best wishes for all the things you create. Thanks for joining us for our monthly linkup 🙂
