I was working at home today, and took an afternoon stroll to – yes – the Botanic Gardens again. During lockdown in 2020, these gardens were my place to go each day, and I am still not tired of them as they change with every season.
Today I went to the fragrant garden, which as its name implies, has flowers and shrubs with a scent. Here you can see several beautifully trimmed bay trees, some of which you can see below. The area is planted in such a way that there is always something to see (and smell) regardless of the season.

I am not a fan of the scent of lilies, finding it far too overpowering. However, the tiger lily below is quite stunning to look at though. The madonna lily, the scent of which could be sensed from quite far away, still looks pretty.
The most stunning plants at the moment are the coral trees. This variety, according to the label is the erythrina crust-galli or cockspur coral tree and is native to Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. The flowers are quite stunning as you can see, as is the twisted, knobbly trunk.

I spotted this beautiful tiger flower, with its fascinating shape and beautiful patterned interior. Such a joy to behold!

That is all for me this Wednesday. Have you been on any good strolls recently?
You can find Thistles and Kiwis on Facebook, and also on Instagram@thistleandkiwis.  As for Twitter….am totally inactive these days.  If you want to get in touch, email me on thistlesandkiwis@gmail.com
Amazing as always! Thank you once again for such a beautiful share.

Oh, nice! I could almost smell the flowers, all the way from New Zealand to Maine. What a treat to have that garden within walking distance of where you live. All the flowers are beautiful, but that tiger flower especially caught my attention.
