If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would of course have to talk about world events. We would wonder at the US elections, comment on what Covid has done to the world, the demonstrations in Poland and the cull of mink in Denmark over the discovery of Covid mutations. We say we struggle to find good news these days, and wonder at some of the anti-science commentary appearing in social media. You say at times it is almost like we have gone back to the dark ages.
If we were having coffee… or even a cup of tea…we would move to happier things, as I tell you we went to the launch of Lucy Revill’s book The Residents at Unity Books, and show you the book. It is a collection of interviews of the residents of Wellington, from Jacinda Ardern to Monique Faso of Hiakai, to Maciej Zimny of Noble Rot Wine Bar (from where we frequently order cases of wine) to artists and the owner of a food truck. Based on her blog of five years, the book has been a labour of love, and produced thanks to those of us who contributed to this crowd-funded project. We both wish her well.
If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about how green things are looking, about the gingko tree in the Botanic Gardens being covered with leaves again, and how we can hardly wait for summer.
If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about what we have been watching on the small screen. I suggest The Undoing with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, an HBO series (on Neon in New Zealand) and Roadkill starring Hugh Lawrie from the BBC. You say you will look out for those. We also discuss The Vow on Netflix and wonder how people can get caught up in cults.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…wait a moment…shouldn’t we be having a glass of wine? Would you like to stay for dinner? It will be simple, some pasta and salad, but it would be so nice if you could stay. You say yes you would love to, and we settle down to an evening of food, wine and conversation.

I have watched Roadkill – really liked it.
I will look out for the Undoing.

Lovely read, I would tell you as it happens, I watched Nicole Kidman’s first film, BMX bandits, for the first time a few nights ago. Now, where’s the cork screw?

Cheers! (well, I am now drinking tea as it is Saturday morning….).

Coffee for me over Sunday breakfast, cheers!
It was worth a watch for the Aussie nostalgia and ‘80s throwback but I don’t think I’d bother to watch it again. I think her acting has improved a little 😉 Basically, a few bike stunts and chases thrown in while we follow the story of some kids trying to take down some bumbling crooks.

I so love these virtual visits. You don’t ignore world events, but even so how calming it feels to read your post. Many thanks!

Thank you for another satisfying cuppa & chat.
There is certainly enough gloom out there (and yes, there are days when I do wonder if we’ve slipped into a Dark Age), and yet, I am encouraged that you have so much delight in your life.
