If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would actually be meeting in person for the first time in weeks. This we agreed was a moment not to be forgotten, and it was marked with tea and cardamom marmalade scones.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would tell you I had walked into town and did some errands, also stopping at both Unity Books and Arty Bee’s to pick up some books. You smile and say – have you been reading over the past weeks? And I say not that much, but I intend to read more. You say you are just the same. I tell you I also picked up lots of tea from tLeafT and some Ashley & Co soap from Small Acorns. I say it was strange to go shopping, using hand sanitiser every time I entered and left a shop, using a tracer app to track where I have been. You say you have yet to venture into town but plan to do so at the weekend.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would tell you how during the week on one of my daily walks I noticed the the fountain was once again playing, with the little frogs spouting forth water. I tell you this brought me such joy, as it was closed during lock down. It was a little bit of normality. You smile and say yes it is lovely to see things moving again. I tell you we had dinner out on Thursday, our first in weeks, and you say how had done something similar and how good it was.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about the weather, how the mornings and evenings are now quite cold. You say yes, not long until the shortest day. I say there has been some lovely weather though for the time of year. We talk about our daily walks, and how we will miss them when we go back to the office.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would agree that the sun is well over the yardarm, so I would pour us each a glass of sherry, and invite you to dinner, for it has been so long since we chatted face to face.

Oh, you bought ‘The Wych Elm’! I don’t think it has been released here yet. I like Tana French’s books, but the TV show not so much.

My nephew was raving about her books so thought I should try. I saw a couple of the TV shows and really wasn’t sure, so am interested in trying one of the books.

Beautiful, beautiful photos, and what a joy that your country is opening up again. That’s what’s possible when a country gets it right. Unlike ours. And if you invited me over for dinner, I’d offer to bring my apple crisp. A perfect fall dessert, don’t you think?

Oh that dessert sounds lovely! You would be very welcome 🙂 It still feels a little scary at times, but lovely to get out and about.
