Well, not such good weather this Saturday I am afraid. Rain, drizzle and warm – not pleasant at all – and not a day to be outside. So today’s six are a mix of inside and outside. I love these posts, seeing what other far more expert people than me are up to, learning from them, and sharing my own little plant projects. Anyway, thanks once again to The Propagator for allowing us to share what is going on in our gardens.
First up, I popped outside to take a few pictures despite the rain. The featured image is of one of the camellias that are still going strong. The rhododendron is also looking good, and a nice spot of bright pink against today’s grey skies. Everything is looking very green round the house with all the spring growth as you can see below.
When we moved here, there was a small lemon in a pot at the side of the house. It has grown a bit, but really needs some tender loving care. There are a few buds though this spring, so I’ll keep my eyes on it and consider what to do with it. Any ideas?
What’s hot what’s not with the herbs this week…the chocolate mint seems to be settling in, and all the thyme (chicken pictured, but I also have ordinary, lemon and pizza) is doing fine. I got a new parsley plant which looks like it might be doing fine, but the Vietnamese has suddenly collapsed. I think I didn’t cut it back enough earlier this year, and it has been quite dry. I’m hoping it is dry tomorrow to get out for a better look.
And so indoors…and to the chilli plants which are growing nicely. It’ll be time to repot soon.
A neglected small orchid plant is starting to flower. I sort of feel the benign neglect has helped! Anyway, it is going to look lovely on this windowsill.
Finally, since I can’t get out and do things today, here is a picture I took during the week of a newly cut fern at the bottom of the stairs to our house. It’s not the best picture, but you can see the sap forming large ‘blobs’ and dripping down the side of the plant. It is quite fascinating to see.

Happy to see the lemon tree in bloom! You are going to have fruits. Leave the flowers for now and look at the formation of the fruits. (brush pollination if you think there are not enough insects). Too weak fruit will fall and keep only 2 per bunch.
Don’t miss feeding the plant (npk 2-1-3 + Mg)

It’s all looking very lush for the rain. Lots of nice green foliage. I’m adding in more evergreen ferns to tide me over till spring.

I’ve not heard of pizza thyme before. Sounds intriguing.

It really smells like pizza! I hadn’t heard of it before either, but couldn’t resist.

I love thyme (lemon) and would have to try the pizza kind as well. Would use some organic Citrus fertilizer on the lemon, the micronutrients are a big help with Citrus. Love the Camellia.
