It’s time for Six on Saturday, and with a week that saw me in Hamilton for two nights, at Pilates on Thursday after work, and hairdresser and The Proclaimers in concert on Friday, there has been no time at all to even think about anything remotely plant related (there than eating vegetables!). Thanks once again to The Propagator for allowing us to share what is going on in our gardens.
First up, it is still warm here during the day, though a definite chill is felt once the sun goes down. The camellias we share with our neighbours are looking lovely, and are a lovely shot of bright pink.

The mahonia (thanks to other SoSers for telling me the name of this plant) is flowering. Not a particularly good picture below, but you get the picture.

And yes…another nasturtium has flowered. A real beauty too, and a touch of colour in the containers outside the house.

Here are the bulbs I posted last week a week later….just to reiterate, daytime temperatures are around 18-19C still….

Here are our camellia buds. It’s great they flower at different times, as we can have glorious pink blooms for a good period of time.

Not in our garden, but last Sunday, we went for a walk through the Botanic Gardens, and spotted several big patches of mushrooms and toadstools. There were lots of them, scattered over one particular area. I just thought you might like to see them.

So that’s it from me. Looking forward to seeing the spring gardens in the northern hemisphere!
You can find Thistles and Kiwis on Facebook, and also on Instagram@thistleandkiwis. As for Twitter….am totally inactive these days. If you want to get in touch, email me on thistlesandkiwis@gmail.com
The mushrooms of autumn … I won’t say that I miss them but it’s nice to see them again!

Lovely nasturtium. I like the Proclamiers more though and will be singing Letter From America in my best Scottish accent all afternoon now!

Yes it is – the toadstools were really cute like something out of an old illustration.

That’s a great photo of the cat on the deck steps. Perfectly centred. Your camellias are certainly pink & beautifully so. Love the nasturtium & fungi collection. Quite striking, those wide brown ones.
