This year’s travels: 2018 review

January Our trip to Sydney. Penrith, to the west of Sydney, reached 47.3C, the highest temperature recorded by a weather station in the Sydney metropolitan area in 79 years! Where we were in the city, it got to 42C during the afternoon, which was, shall we say, hot enough. We also took the Northern Explorer train up to Auckland, passing through the Raurimu Spiral, a feat of Victorian engineering.

April saw us head to Europe and days in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Glasgow and Edinburgh. It was bitterly cold, but at least we had some sunshine in Stockholm and actually saw a few snowflakes one morning in Copenhagen.

June saw us leave the New Zealand winter and head to Singapore. I just loved The Gardens by the Bay, and visiting museums and the fantastic zoo. I would happily go back there another day.

Also in June, we had a weekend in Hamilton, spending a lovely day in Raglan. September saw us having a lovely weekend on Waiheke Island, with wine tasting, oysters, and other good things.

And finally….flying back into Wellington in November on a gorgeous day. Check the links to old posts for more details.
