Last year, I wrote about how one of the biggest thrills of childhood Christmases was the stocking at the end of the bed on Christmas morning. I loved to wake up and to try and guess what was in it, then get into my parents’ bed with my brother to open up the little things inside. Our stockings were not grand affairs – a pencil, a notebook, small toys and of course a cracker peeping out of the top.
I am still collecting things for Karl’s and Anton’s stockings, but here is how far I have got with things for Anton (can’t show you what I have for Karl since he reads this blog!).
So far..there are some caramel wafers, a chocolate orange and a packet of bilar, a Swedish favourite. There is of a pen (of course), an eye mask to help sleeping on the flight back, some kitchen tongs (why not?) and some things from Body Shop. There is also a little thing to remind him of Wellington.

Its a tradition I want to resurrect in our home and next year our fist Christmas in France will be a fine excuse.. I would have to have a chocolate orange, nuts, a large pencil, a small book of poems, something hand-made and something silly. Every year Tony and me allow ourselves £10.00 and we head for the charity shops and buy each other a present, maybe a book. We give ourselves an hour and then we have a pub lunch. Its thee start of the festivities.

This year I am only doing stocking for the “kids”. Young adults really. They usually want money 🙂
