Sunday – a day of rest, a day of rejuvenation, a day to get things done or a day to just do what you please. Or maybe a little bit of all four. Even though I woke up at my usual weekday time of 6am this Sunday, I stayed in bed and caught up on podcasts…and fell asleep again. Breakfast on a Sunday is good bread with whatever takes our fancy that morning, be it smoked salmon or a boiled egg. This Sunday it was an egg.

After a morning catching up with housework, we headed to the garden centre for some bits and pieces, then to the supermarket for some lunch items and these peonies.

It was then time to potter about outside, planting some marigold seeds, checking on my little courgette plants and also filling a trough with some micro green seeds. I also planted some borage for the bees.

After all that, it was time to stop for tea and pick up a book. Joan Didion is such a brilliant writer with a wonderful way with words, This collection is really worth picking up for a quick and excellent afternoon read.

I did a further round of the yard, counting the foxgloves, which seem to multiply by the minute. I swear there is a new plant every morning! I love them though, and each plant and flower is just a bit different from its neighbour. Plus, the bees love them.

This Sunday, I made a big pot of chili for dinner, enough to last two days. As the smells filled the air, I prepared a salad to have as well, from leaves, avocado, cucumber, carrots and sunflower seeds for crunch.

Then it was time to catch up with one of the serials we are following (now we have finished the wonderful Stranger Things) before heading to bed, and not thinking about Monday. How did you spend your Sunday?
