If we were…having a glass of wine, as after all it is Friday evening, we would talk about the election in the UK. We would say it is no surprise that the SNP lost seats, they had even predicted it, but that we were shocked and surprised about how many Conservative seats there are now in Scotland. We would look at the news, and see a hung parliament has been confirmed, and laugh at a tweet from Sophie in ‘t Veld, the Dutch MEP who set up the European parliament’s taskforce examining the UK’s treatment of EU nationals, “Cameron gambled, lost. May gambled, lost. Tory party beginning to look like a casino.”
If we were…having a glass of wine, we would say, well, we live in New Zealand.
If we were…having a glass of wine, I would tell you about my trip to Hamilton, about the beautiful flight up, the smooth flight down and the work that was done.

If we were…having a glass of wine, I would tell you about the good food I had at Gothenburg in Hamilton. The food is tapas style, and my companion and I had pea, dill and haloumi fritters; an amazing broccoli dish for our greens; beef tataki, rare seared sirloin, miso mayo, crispy shallots, coriander and Skagen röra, a Swedish classic mix of prawn, dill, lemon and mayo, served here with grilled ciabatta.

If we were…having a glass of wine, we would browse through the list of things on the Wellington on a Plate festival coming up in August. There are so many good looking things to try, it is hard to know where to start.
If we were…having a glass of wine, we would realise it was time for dinner, so you join us, and the evening passes…..
