If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would smile and say this will be or final catch up face to face until June. You say hope you have a good trip.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would tell you we are slowly getting ready for the adventure. You say at least where you are going you can easily get things that you might have left behind. And I say yes – and maybe a good excuse to go shopping? And you smile.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would discuss things we have been doing. I say today I went to Pilates and had lunch at Squirrel, my favourite Maud’s chicken sandwich, and then went next door to Small Acorns for some soap and a browse. You say that sounds a good morning and I say yes.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would also tell you I went to the hairdresser, and am wondering what to do about a cut when we are away. You say Stockholm would be the best bet and I say yes, as I know people I can ask.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…you would ask me about what I will be reading. I say I am not sure but I have a few books I have downloaded and will use the library but it just isn’t the same as part of the fun is walking around and spotting something interesting. You agree, but I know I will get by and you laugh.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about how lovely the weather has been today, a sunny summer’s day that has brought us all joy. You show me a picture of today on Cuba Street, and some street poetry

Here now, Awake from a long and frightened dream, the sky is blue

….and you smile and say, yes, when the sky is blue all is well in the world.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would listen to the cicadas.

If we were having coffee…or even a up of tea…I would say would you like to stay for dinner? It is just pasta with courgettes and tomatoes and a salad to use up things in the fridge and you say that sounds good. So we settle down for an evening of conversation, wine and food.

Regular readers: I am not sure if I will be able to do a Small Pleasures post this week. If I do it will be on Sunday. If not, then the next post will be next Wednesday. Let’s just see how things go!

  1. That chicken sandwich looks good. I certainly would have had one of those with a mug of tea while chatting.

It was sunny here yesterday. Quite mild which was unexpected. It’s supposed to he nice and slightly warmer today too.

I have a couple of appointments today to do with my cochlear implant. I am hoping afterwards, when I have had some lunch to do some exploring.

Have a good holiday. It’s not long to go.

  2. Food made from whatever is left over in one’s fridge is often very tasty – your pasta dish looks delicious. You are bound to make the most of your time away 🙂

  4. There is a sense of light laughter behind those your words.. . you sound as if you are ready to close your front door, smile and get into the car and then the plane and wait for it all to happen . . . best when it does . . .

  5. No need to post again if your mind is elsewhere, Barbara. I often pop in on the blogs but I always just want to savour the whole experience. Sounds like a wonderful trip, and at the end of it all you have a lovely place and lifestyle to come back to xx
