Six on Saturday 13.12.25

It really feels like summer….warm days, sunshine and everything in the garden is going wild – weeds and plants. Last Sunday we were at the Thorndon Fair and I bought this blue poppy for the garden….perfect for when winter comes.

Anyway, the nasturtiums have gone mad…spreading around one spot of the garden. I love them…and so do the bees.

The purple sage is doing so well, as is the lemon balm after its winter sleep. The chocolate mint blooms, the ordinary mint doesn’t, the pineapple sage needs a new and bigger pot.

I cannot believe how much both the hebes have ‘expanded’ in the last couple of months. Here is one of them…..probably going to take over the whole garden soon….

And so to dahlias…so far these beautiful dark red ones…

…and this white one….

Anyway, thanks to Jim at Garden Ruminations, for hosting Six on Saturday, whose knowledge of all things plants and gardening makes him an ideal host.

    1. It looks like rain from Tuesday…but honestly the ground has become so dry it will be nice. I am so pleased with the dahlias – I planted them last year and wasn’t sure if they would come up again.

  1. That last dahlia is lovely! Is it white? It looks more like pale yellow to me, but perhaps it’s the light and the photo. On the other hand, that blue poppy deserved a close-up, along with some of its red relatives( if you have) . It’s very pretty too.

  2. I was hoping you would post today and bring color from the southern hemisphere! Love naturtiums too! I did not have nay last year, but I will not let that happen again! The Dahlias are gorgeous and the herbs make me hungry!

  3. It’s lovely to see a beautiful summer garden at this time of year! Everything’s rather grey here in the UK.

Your nasturtiums are lovely. I rescued some this year from a path clear-up at our local community garden, but I don’t know yet what colour they will be. Hopefully as cheerful as yours!

  4. I just love your nasturtiums! Very jolly! I have the same poppy decoration in my garden in a succulent pot for when there are less flowers in summer. Merry Christmas 🎄 🎅 just in case I don’t do a later six!

  6. Your garden is very bright and cheery. I love dahlias, and we have some coming into flower too. I love your blue poppy. We saw real blue poppies growing wild in Alaska. I’ve never seen them anywhere else.
