If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would be sitting outside enjoying the warmer weather, watching the bees and remarking how good this feels.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about our Christmas and summer plans and how much we are looking forward to a break.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about our current reading, the first episode of the last series of Stranger Things, of what we are looking forward to in December. I say I have quite a few events already booked and you say well, it is that time of the year.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about how we love this time of year for fruit – strawberries, early blueberries and stone fruit and the first cherries. I say I could not resist some today from one of the cherry seller on the street near work and you say I am not surprised.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about our plans for next year, about our big trip to Europe and what we will be doing there. Karl if course will be working, but we will still have some time to explore and meeting some family and friends.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea….I would ask you if you would like to stay for dinner and you say yes. I say I have made a spicy pork dish to have with noodles from Molly Baz’s book Cook This Book. You say that sounds good, so we settle down for food, wine and more conversation.

  2. We are waiting for the forecast rain that simply does not arrive – although the summer heat is blasting us with its full force. I am hoping to blog more regularly now that I am more able to get around without too much pain. Hopefully, all wll be well within the next few weeks. I really enjoy reading your blog posts, so please do not give up!

    1. We had a very loud thunder storm in the early hours of Friday morning – woke us up and the rain was very heavy – should have sent some over to you 🙂

      I won’t be giving up blogging for a long time.

    1. Thank you! We will be in Hamburg for 6 weeks March, first two weeks of April, then going to Stockholm for 6 weeks so May we will be there (based there – likely to have a long weekend in Copenhagen) and we will be in Portugal at the start of June for a proper holiday. My husband will be working as he has research study leave. Would be fun to meet up!

      1. It sounds like you have a wonderful vacation planned, but it doesn’t sound like our paths will cross. We’ll be in Greece and Montenegro in May, then in France until mid-June, then to Finland for a few days before coming home.

  4. It’s not easy to maintain enthusiasm for blogging over a long period of time. Things do become repetitious and I sometimes think I should be doing something more worthwhile, but we do meet lovely people, and it’s almost like a family xx

  5. Yes, I have also noticed a lot of people announcing breaks, giving up, or simply disappearing without explanation. Of those who remain many must post less frequently – I seem to have a much quieter feed these days! Mind you, at one time I posted twice a week myself but I couldn’t keep that up. I suppose everyone finds their most suitable level of commitment. It’s sad though when you get to know someone and consider them friends.

    1. Yes it is sad when people just go – sometimes for a good reason of course. I aim to do two posts a week but sometimes I can’t think of something to say which is where prompts/blog shares are quite good. Ah well….

  10. Hi Barbara, thanks for joining in regularly with our WBOYC linkup. Like you, I’ll still continue to write a monthly wrap up post in some format or other as it’s good to look back on what the month held. The cherries look good, we got some from Young NSW which is cherry capital and they were lovely.

  12. It’s so funny to read about your Christmas and summer plans in the same sentence! 🙂 I am a bit jealous of the fresh fruit and berries available to you at this time of the year. Enjoy some for me as well 🙂 I too look forward to some time of this Christmas, it is going to be wonderful. Happy first of Advent!
