I actually had my normal day off work today, and after my wonderful morning Pilates class, I decided to head over to Pickle & Pie for lunch. Regular readers may remember this place as I have been there fairly frequently since it opened in 2017.
Below you can see the layout, and a view of me sitting at a table looking at the door. There is also an outside seating area. The third picture below is the display of their own pickles, relishes and preserves which are for sale.
Today I had the chicken schnitzel sandwich served with cos lettuce, ranch dressing, finely sliced apple on toasted milk loaf with some spicy pickles on the side. The chicken was juicy and the combination of spicy, salty and sweet were a good combination. It was a huge sandwich, and I confess I left a little of the bread.
Pickle & Pie is one of those places you can sit in with a good book, a coffee and something to eat, quite undisturbed. Of course one can always people watch too, and the big windows give lots of opportunities to just watch the world go by too.
This is the third in an occasional series I plan on doing about favourite cafés in the city. Pickle & Pie can be found on Lombard Street in the city centre.

If I ever get to Wellington, I’ll check it out. Looks great!

That sandwich looks so delicious! I love how the wall of windows make it so light and airy inside.

I would love to sit down and have a tasty sandwich at pickle and pie. It definitely looks like a wonderful place. My daughter and I visited one of our favourite cafes for a sourdough sandwich with pesto/mozzarella/chicken the other day. A cafe visit every now and then is a great uncomplicated outing.

I know you know I get hungry looking at your posts!! Recently my husband had the cricket on TV and the venue was in Wellington. What a spectacular environment the city is built around. And yes I know it has a reputation for being ‘windy’.

🙂 Yes Wellington is set in a beautiful location. It is windy at times, but no every day, and certainly not as bad as some people make it out to be!
