If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about the past month, about the fact I travelled to Auckland and Hawke’s Bay for work, about the wild and variable spring weather. I say have you seen the new bird at the airport? And you say no and I show you a picture. We agree it is much better than what was there before.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…you would as how work is and I would say…don’t ask and then tell you the latest. I say I had to have a pastel de nata as a treat at lunch time and you say you are not surprised.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about what we have been reading and watching, about going to the theatre, and about future film and theatre plans.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would pop into the garden and look at the nasturtiums and herbs and say how quickly things are growing at the moment.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would ask you if you would like to stay for dinner. It is just pasta, with tuna, capers, anchovies, garlic and tomatoes, and you say yes. So we open a bottle of wine and settle down to dinner and more conversation.

  1. Airport artwork really had come a long way. I love checking out the installations at various US airports when I have a layover as well. That bird is very pretty.

  2. I would take a glass of water and we could chat about airport art and how travel definitely enriches our life. But if it is work travel and things are chaotic we would commiserate about how it’s not fun at all.

  6. Work … I am savouring my retirement, even though it is certainly not roses all the way! The first few drops of rain have fallen, giving off a strong earthy smell of petrichor – wonderful. As is your pasta dish!
