Wednesday Words and Whimsy

My ‘normal’ Wednesdays have followed a similar pattern for quite a while. It is my non-working day of the working week, and time for Pilates, lunch somewhere and some browsing or pottering or whatever. This year thanks to my eye op and moon boot, my Wednesdays haven’t been quite their usual selves, but today I was quite determined to get back into the usual routine.

The weather wasn’t that great first thing, but I set off for an osteopath appointment before my Pilates class. I am so thankful for both of these things which have really made a difference to my physical well being in recent weeks. I stopped off for lunch at The Bond Street Deli, which I hadn’t visited before, and enjoyed an excellent tuna salad bagel and coffee. I will definitely return.

After a visit to the bookshop and the wonderful Iris ‘beauty store’ I caught the bus home, and after resting my foot for a bit, went over to our local library. It is so nice having this place so close to home now. I picked up some plums, passion fruit and capsicum from the greengrocer, and took delivery of some tea from tleafT and wine from Noble Rot, including this one below which would have been perfect for our Sunday lunch (it came complete with a little plastic bull).

To end the day, we headed out for dinner to Capitol in town. I love the atmosphere of this restaurant which always makes me feel like I am in Paris for some reason. The food is always excellent, and this evening I had a wonderful soft shell crab based salad and prawn linguine, while Karl had focaccia and steak. We had a Palliser chardonnay with the first course and a shiraz from Kalleske Wines with the mains.

So…that was my Wednesday. I am on holiday again tomorrow, with all sorts of domestic plans. Let’s see how that goes….

  1. I too have Wednesdays as my non-working day of the work week 🙂 It is awesome, right!? I like having it in the middle of the week. It is great seeing you doing things that makes you feel better on your day off.

  2. That’s the thing about living in a big city like Wellington, everything is either a walk or a bus trip away.
