If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would be sipping some gorgeous green tea from tLeafT and enjoying a melting moment biscuit from the local deli.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…you would ask me about my foot. I would say well, I was at the hospital on Wednesday and had another X-ray and chat to the doctor. As I have no pain, and these things take an age, he wasn’t worried, but another three weeks in the boot and then the hospital again. You say how do you feel about that? I say it is what I expected but still tedious in the extreme. You agree.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…you would ask how are you keeping your spirits up? I say lunch with a friend after the hospital, cosy crime, planning autumn reading and cooking, looking forward to a short break next weekend, and of course connecting with all my blogging friends, who bring their worlds to life. You say, well, you can travel the world that way from the sofa and I say yes.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…you would ask me if I had been out to eat recently. I say yes – a fabulous long lunch on Saturday and on Wednesday (another post hospital cheer me up) we went to Daisy’s which will be closing its doors at the weekend. You say the former sounds excellent, the latter a bit sad. I say yes it was a nice place to visit but I am not too surprised. The lamb ragout over pasta I had was good, and Karl enjoyed his steak as usual.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about what we had watched recently. We both say how amazing and powerful Adolescence was, and how good the acting was. I say we also enjoyed The Gone series 2, Protection and This City is Ours.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would laugh at the beer Karl received today*. I of course say would you like to stay for dinner? We can pop to our local butcher and maybe pick up sausages or maybe schnitzel? You say that sounds good – and we can make a potato and kumara mash and use up some of the greens from the fridge. So we pick up a bottle of wine on the way and settle down to an evening of food and conversation.

  4. Oh yum, my grandmother used to make wonderful melting moments, but I haven’t had one for years! Might be time to get my old family recipe book out again… 🙂

  5. The label on that beer can made me both chuckle and sigh. What. A. Mess. I am sure you are more than ready to get rid of that boot. Does the reference to the hospital mean that you will be needing surgery? At any rate, boot or not, it looks as though you are living life to the fullest. Those TV shows sound interesting. Will be checking them out.

    1. Karl reads the Danish press and there is a real concern, especially with the recent visit. The beer though is fun.

      The hospital reference was standard so not a concern – at this stage at least!

  10. I’m glad your foot is on the mend, Barbara but these things do take time to heal and lots of patience. We watched Adolescence and what a powerful show. It is frightening to see what our children can be exposed to. I thought the acting was brilliant and the boy who played Jamie had never acted before. We have also watched The Gone and just binged on The Unforgotten Series 3. We also have been watching Under the Vines which is set in Queenstown with stunning views.     1. I think I am losing patience with my foot….it was a gorgeous sunny day today and I longed to go for a walk. Anyway, agree re Adolescence and Under the Vines is good escapism and quite the opposite! Thanks Sue for your wishes,

  17. I’m sorry the boot has to remain on longer but glad you were able to have some nice post appointment meals. I would definitely be up for the meals you suggested and evening of food and conversation.
