Our Sunday continued (part 1 can be found here) with going south of the city, stopping at this gorgeous beach with a great view of Penguin Island. About a 50 minute drive, this is part of the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park.
Here we are, hats on to protect us from the sun, looking at the gorgeous view. Luckily we didn’t spot this sign until after our stroll…
We then went on to Fremantle, where we ate lunch, drank a lovely long, cold beer and went exploring.
Fremantle is known for its maritime history, Victorian architecture (example below) and reminders of how Australia was used as a British penal colony. There is a central market (see the three pictures in a row below), which we popped into, with me naturally being drawn to the fruit and veg, those mangoes in particular.
Just next to the market, is this row of cottages built for the prison wardens, some of which I believe are holiday homes. The third picture below is of an interesting building I spotted, which I hope gives an idea of what the town is like.
We ended our day trip with coffees by a marina…the perfect end to a perfect day. Photos by me and my friend Gordon.

Did you encounter the Fremantle doctor? It is the only thing that I knowe about the town.

So interesting! All I’ve known about Perth is that it’s very far away from just about everything. It looks like a nice place to visit, and maybe someday I’ll get there!

I love Perth, such an easy city to get around, and lots of green spaces. We had lovely meals in Perth and the history in Fremantle was very interesting.
