If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would offer you a red velvet and white chocolate chunk cookie. You say, oh they look good, and you say yes they are and I found the recipe in the most recent edition of dish magazine.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about the month past. I would talk about my work travels to Hawke’s Bay and Christchurch, about how nice it was to have Karl home from his visit to Europe and about how the month seems to have flown by. We agree we can’t believe the clocks go forward this weekend.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would also talk about future plans. I say there are travel plans – both work and pleasure – trips to the ballet and no doubt some nice dinners out. You say it all sounds good. I say I got my 2025 planner from Emma Kate Co beautifully wrapped by Small Acorns, with a little packet of seeds and the receipt on a pretty floral card. There was also a voucher for a free coffee from Squirrel. You say what beautiful presentation and I say yes.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about what we had read, what is going on in our gardens, and what we had been watching (Slow Horses, Billionaire Island and more old episodes of Utopia).

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would show you the beautiful clematis in the garden, and we would talk about the joys of spring.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would ask you if you fancy walking down to the Friday night food trucks parked up nearby and grabbing some of the excellent pizza found there? You say yes that sounds excellent, and I say, there is some good wine recently delivered from Noble Rot to enjoy with it, and you say perfect! So we settle down to an evening of pizza and more conversation.

  2. Ah Daylight Saving, we go forward in the first week of October across the ditch. I’d like it better if it went for the original 4 months it was here in Australia until some politicians decided 6 months was good. We have at least 2 states who don’t follow it. Gets very confusing…

    Loved your month

  3. I’ll happily start with coffee and one of those delicious looking cookies before going out to admire the clematis – is this an evergreen one? And later pizza and wine sounds perfect. Perhaps after that a walk around your lovely marina will be necessary!

PS if like me you have been frustrated by the subscription pop-up box that appears every time someone leaves a comment I have discovered how to turn it off. Go to ‘Newsletter Settings’ which you will find listed in the main Settings menu on the Dashboard. Then unclick all of the boxes – but especially the one that says ‘enable subscription pop-up for commenters’.

    1. The clematis is Clematis paniculata which apparently is one of seven species of clematis native to New Zealand. I just had to look that up! You would be most welcome to join us for pizza and wine…and maybe a short post dinner stroll!
Thanks ffor the info about the subscription pop up.

  5. I’d love to join you for pizza, Barbara and then watch Slow Horses with you. I enjoy that series. The chocolate cookies look delicious so if I was having a coffee with you I would ask for seconds. Thanks for sharing #WBOYC? for September and I can’t believe we are looking at 2025 calendars already! x

    1. You would be most welcome! Slow Horses is a fun series and we are enjoying the latest season. Only 3 months left of the year..but at least we are moving towards warmer days (at least here!).

  6. You truly live in a wonderful place! I’d love to have Friday night food trucks within walking distance. Our town actually prepared a beautiful plaza for food trucks along the river that runs through town, with shared seating on the river. There’s permanent places there for food trucks, but so far they’re only being used for special events. I would love ot have some good food trucks in town.

    1. The food trucks were a local initiative to make use of some waste ground. They have set up picnic benches and the same area is used for the Saturday morning market. The coffee truck opens then too.
