If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would agree it is so nice to catch up after what has been a busier than expected month. You would ask how I am feeling about the move so soon after our last one, and I say, well, it was so good to find something we like so quickly and for that we are very thankful. You agree and wish us well.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would say it is a year since our dear little feline friend crossed over the rainbow bridge. We still miss him and you say of course you do – we never forget our animal friends.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about what we have been watching and listening to. You say have you seen Cry Wolf? And you say no, and I say, it is really excellent. I say we have also been enjoying the Irish drama Kin and the final parts of True Detective and Criminal Record. You say you do wnjoy your TV dramas and I say yes.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about podcasts and I say you should listen to two recent podcasts Sue of Women Living Well Over 50) chats to Deb of Deb’s World and Joanne Tracey of And Anyways…The second one was particularly relevant with its subject of courage, given that it is my word of the year.

If you were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…you would ask how the French classes are going and I say fine – a little slow, but lots of words and phrases are slowly coming back. You say good – it took courage to start classes again.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would ask you if you would like to stay for dinner? It isn’t pasta…but there are Ottolenghi’s lamb and feta meatballs from Simple, and a bulgur wheat salad with lots of vegetables. You say oh yes please that sounds good, so we sit down to dinner and more conversation.

  1. Happy Thursday, Barbara! Thanks so much for mentioning the Podcast and I enjoyed interviewing Deb and also Jo Tracey. We just finished watching Criminal Record and now we are in a slump because everything else isn’t as good. We were hooked, although being a British Crime Drama they had us hooked at that. We’ve also seen Kin so it appears that you and I have common tastes in TV series. The lamb and feta meatballs look delicious, as does the salad although I’ve never tried bulgur wheat. Thanks in advance for linking up to #WBOYC? when it opens tomorrow and also thanks for the mention. Have a lovely weekend x

    1. Thanks Sue! I am a day early again…. anyway, glad you also enjoyed Criminal Record – a great slow burner of a series. Bulgur what is worth a try as it is a neutral base for whatever flavours you want to add.

  2. We’ve just finished some of our favourite shows, so we’re looking for some good new TV series. Criminal Record and Kin sound good.

Great you are able to keep positive through another move, and I hope this move will be nice and settled for a long time!

  3. Lots to talk about. Our dear little Miss Watson crossed the rainbow bridge last March, and we miss her still. I, too, enjoy TV dramas, and we recently finished the last episode of True Detective. What did you think about it? We thought it was all right, but nowhere near as good as season 1, which we recently watched.

  4. A cup of tea sounds wonderful this Thursday evening, I’d love to catch up on the latest happenings!

I only follow a few podcasts that I listen to on a regular basis. All except one is related to my work. The one that isn’t work related is about Nordic myths and legends. The podcasts are rather short (8-25min) but so exciting. I really love storytelling, and material for my own story telling, which is the reason why I listen to that podcast (so perhaps that is also pork related, when I think about it.)

If we were enjoying a beverage together I would tell you that I splurged on a new bike today. It’s a hybrid, a cross between a really fast city bike and a mountain bike…and yes, it is electric. I’ve done so much research when it comes to what type of bike I really need. I am going to try to continuing to manage without a car, going on 5 years in June, so the bike has to be of great quality and be able to talk me from A to B while carrying the things I need. I am going to ride it to my garden with tools, and back home with hopefully a lot of produce 5-6times/week spring/summer/fall for many years to come. I believe this bike will do the job.

I hope your week is a good one.

  5. Hi Barbara, I’m so pleased you enjoyed the podcast interviews with Sue and getting to hear our ‘voices’ is an added bonus! I remember hearing a blogging friend’s voice for the first time and being surprised but then thinking it sounded like their words so all was right with the world! I must admit I was feeling a bit off the day Sue interviewed me as we’d had some bad news and I didn’t feel quite myself – hopefully it didn’t impede the interview at all.

Your post is again delicious and ‘yes I’ll stay for dinner’ is always my answer if someone asks me! Thanks for joining us for #WBOYC

  6. Hi Barbara, good to hear that you’re feeling settled after your move. I’m not at all surprised that you still miss your furry friend. We lost our little Mollie four years ago, and like you, I still miss her. They are family and so not easily forgotten.

  7. We could definitely chat about missing our furry friends and the podcasts. If you like mystery type shows I would recommend Murdoch Mysteries. Good luck with the move.

  8. I’m glad we shared that coffee, Barbara. We still miss our sweet Charlie Dog too, and he’s been gone from us for four years now. You are right, we never forget them or stop loving them.
