Six on Saturday 06.01.23

I was in two minds whether to post today as really I have nothing new to show, and in fact everything in this post apart from one thing was pretty much in my last post. Anyway, I thought I would join in this week as we will be away for a few days from Tuesday so definitely won’t be here next week. Anyway, thanks to Jim at Garden Ruminations, for hosting Six on Saturday, whose knowledge of all things plants and gardening makes him an ideal host and move on to what can be see at the moment outside.

So I will start with the hydrangeas which are showing slight signs of coming near to the end of their flowering. We are still obviously enjoying them and they are lovely to look at when hanging out the washing!

Also in what I call our back yard, the lemon verbena and variegated sage that you have seen lots of times already. I really have nothing new to report!

The star jasmine really smells quite strongly, even up on our balcony. It is pretty and is certainly spreading at great speed from our neighbours. And yes that is a spider’s web on the plant!

The outside basil has sprouted flowers, which I have picked and put into olive oil for darker days, and I got myself another plant in the supermarket which has been doing surprisingly really well.

The Texas tarragon is flowering, and I have been picking leaves off the other plants and put into vinegar, also for darker days. I do need to freeze some too.

Both thyme plants are looking fine, and I also got a dill plant in the supermarket which at the moment is doing fine and adding joy to potato salad.

Not really very much I am afraid. but as usual, I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s beautiful gardens in other parts of the world. Hope you are all well and enjoying your gardens in whatever the season is with you.

  1. Our garden is not at all beautiful at this time of the year – it’s all wet and weathered and still in its Scottish winter slumber for another wee while at least! 🙂

  2. That is one very pretty hydrangea though, so keep on photographing it. It should flower for another month or so, as long as it gets enough water. And your herbs are doing well, Basil and Dill never last for me.
