Six on Saturday 08.07.23

After so many sunny days since we got home, today was grey and rainy. I am still feeling a bit soggy from a bad cold, so the mess that is our garden remains. I still popped out and got a few pictures of things out there anyway, so here’s another abbreviated SoS. Thanks to Jim at Garden Ruminations, for hosting Six on Saturday, whose knowledge of all things plants and gardening makes him an ideal host and move on to what can be see at the moment outside.

First up, the camellias. The top picture is the one we share with our neighbour, the other two the bush in front of the house. The white bush is also full of flowers, but my pictures were not that good and I didn’t want to spend that long outside! There are lots of buds on our magnolia as well.

When we got back, I had a quick look at things (the deutzia is still hanging on to the slope…just…) and spotted more violas. They seem to have just self-seeded and just popped up.

Also in flower is the rosemary, the little lilac flowers always looking so pretty.

Still in herb corner, the borage also seemed to thrive while we were away, adding a great pop of bright blue outside.

There are already signs of spring with quite a few bulbs poking their heads above the soil. There are already daffodils in the Botanic Gardens, so even though it is still mid-winter.

Finally, some bright, red winter berries. I’m not sure of the bush, but there are lots around at the moment.

As usual, I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s beautiful gardens in other parts of the world. Hope you are all well and enjoying your gardens in whatever the season is with you. Apologies for a such a brief post…the afternoon as been mostly spent on the sofa.

  1. Hope you feel better soon. I do wish the world could share the rain. It’s getting toasty dry here again. Isn’t it lovely having a herb garden outside the door?
