Hi! Here I am in Vancouver, enjoying the Northern Hemisphere summer. It has been great to see the sun and escape winter for a few days.
I took a short walk around a bit of Stanley Park, avoiding the geese and luckily not spotting a coyote!
We visited the VanDusen Botanical Gardens on Saturday where I took lots of photos…and found this ‘Scottish Shelter’. It was, at least, a place to pause and rest.
We also came across this, the Swedish Fountain, that was a gift from the Swedish Folk Society, and was originally situated near the entrance. The panels represent the pioneers contribution to local industry, but there is also one with a Viking ship if you look closely. The construction was moved to its present position in 2008, surrounding as ash tree.
These totem poles can also be found in the gardens. They were specially commissioned, and sit in a shady glade.
Good night from Vancouver! See you soon!

Thistles and Kiwis is currently in Vancouver. Posts created on an iPad….not the easiest thing to do!

Lovely Vancouver. I enjoy the totem poles over there, the tales about them are extraordinary. Try and visit the Museum of Anthropology whilst you are there, it is quite wonderful.

I managed to get to that museum when we were here 5 years ago. A fantastic place to visit.

Just until Friday, local time. Met a friend who drove over from Washington state today for lunch – we hadn’t seen each other in years.

I love that you find a Botanical Garden wherever you go! I also appreciate how the garden is peppered with tributes by and to other cultures. Thanks for sharing these pleasures!

Happy memories. We visited Vancouver many years ago and loved it. One of the few cities in North America in which I could bear to live!

How fun. My hubby and I got engaged in Vancouver Canada in Stanley Park in 1992. We celebrate 30 years this year.

Vancouver is one of my favorite cities, and I haven’t been there in close to 20 years. It’s so incredibly beautiful, and the food is amazing. I still daydream about the amazing coconut banana pancakes I had at a hotel downtown in the early 2000s.
