If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would be sipping orange pekoe from tLeafT and eating miniature Christmas mince pies from Arobake.
If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about a lack of Christmas feeling this year. I say I have done most of my Christmas shopping, but have yet to organise something for Karl. You say you haven’t even started, but like me, you don’t feel at all in the Christmas spirit. But then we eat the mince pies….

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about the weather, about the mix of sun and rain, and how we long for summer. We would realise that Sunday is the first Sunday in Advent and wonder how the year has gone by so quickly.
If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about the Covid vaccine, about the world situation…and then turn to the few bits of feel good news such as the reaction to the maiden speech by Ibrahim Omer in the New Zealand Parliament and how lucky we are to live here at this moment in history.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about summer holiday plans, about how we are going to Dunedin (the Edinburgh of the South….) and how you are going to Hawke’s Bay. I say we were there in June and plan to go there again in February, and we agree it is a part of the country we really like.
If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about seasonal produce, from asparagus to fresh peas in the pod.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would look at the time and I would, as usual, ask you if you would like to stay for dinner? It will only be simple – some ricotta and spinach tortellini, some of those peas, a bit of spinach and lots of parmesan. There is also some wine, just delivered from Noble Rot Wine Bar. You say, how lovely, and we sit down to an evening of food and conversation.

You can find Thistles and Kiwis on Facebook, and also on Instagram@thistleandkiwis. As for Twitter….am totally inactive these days. If you want to get in touch, email me on thistlesandkiwis@gmail.com

Lovely post, enjoyable to read. When I am drinking tea or coffee I sit and look at my painting of Lake Tekapo and the Church of The Good Shepherd and wish I could be there to escape the heat waves here in Brisbane.

Thank you! Well, it is quite chilly here today so you might prefer the heat of Brisbane!

You had my attention with coffee, caused my pulse to quicken with mini mincemeats, and reeled me in with tortellini. I’d definitely stop by. 🙂
