It is Thursday. It is ‘lille fredag’ – little Friday. Pizza has been delivered and consumed. Time to think of what has happened this week already and to look forward to the weekend. Here are three things I’ve read, listened to and watched so far this week, plus an update on the daffodils and ducks in the Botanic Gardens as a bonus.
Read my nephew Peter Mountford’s latest published short story One More Night Behind the Walls in Kenyon Review.

Listen to Deborah Feldman: rejecting my Hasidic roots on Conversations from ABC Radio, especially if you have watched Unorthodox on Netflix. It is a fascinating interview with the author of the 2012 autobiography, Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots.

Watch The Nest, an intriguing Glasgow-based drama about a couple who are unable to conceive, and take up an offer from an 18-year old who offers to be their surrogate mother, but a whole lot more besides.
You can find Thistles and Kiwis on Facebook, and also on Instagram@thistleandkiwis. As for Twitter….am totally inactive these days. If you want to get in touch, email me on thistlesandkiwis@gmail.com
How wonderful. Love your writing style.

Feldman’s real story is just as fascinating. My nephew’s short story is quite moving.

It is, isn’t it? First heard that when I lived in Denmark.

We had a little acronym when I was teaching. Wrote it on the board every Thursday but never told the pupils what it was: TGINF. Then Google came along to enlighten them!
