If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea we would talk about the past week, about my recent work visit to Hawke’s Bay, about what we have been reading (City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert which we both agreed was disappointing) and watching (Spiral). We also talk about the forthcoming New Zealand Festival and get out the programme to have another look at what is coming.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would talk about what we have been cooking recently. I tell you about the gorgeous grapefruit and pink peppercorn curd from Lagom by Steffi Knowles-Dellner, that I would definitely make again. It was lovely on sourdough toast. I would tell you that I actually used the method from Kylee Newton’s The Modern Preserver, which was the method I am familiar with. I tell you I want to try the alternative preserved lemons from this book using rosemary and rice wine vinegar.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…I would tell you I was working at home today, and went for a walk at lunch time to the Botanic Gardens, about how the new season flowers are being planted out, that the roses are blooming in the Lady Norwood Rose Garden and that there are wonderful waterlilies and orchids in the Begonia House.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would say hello to Charlie, who has been busy defending his territory. We wonder if he is looking forward to his birthday.

If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea…we would look at the time and pour ourselves a drink and talk about making something for dinner from all the left overs in the fridge. It is Friday after all and time to relax and get ready to enjoy the weekend.

Cheers!
