Six on Saturday 17.08.19

There has been sunshine, cold snaps, rain, a storm…and today it is pouring with rain, so not a day to be outside, definitely more of a day to be indoors with a cup of tea and a good book. I was also travelling earlier this week and so had no chance to do anything plant connected except check up on things when I came home. Anyway, here are my Six on Saturday and thanks once again to The Propagator for allowing us to share what is going on in our gardens.

I confess that I did take a couple of pictures yesterday due to the forecast rain. First up, another beautiful anemone. They do look lovely.

I have started to make plans for spring and summer. The first task is to clear the two big tubs of the grass and weeds. There is a rather sad looking lemon ‘tree’ as well, so some general clearing and prepping is going to be done. Again, this picture was taken yesterday.

Sticking with planning, a big batch of seeds arrived. To be honest, I think I have ordered too many (is that possible?) but let’s see. I’m hoping the mini sunflowers will add a pop of colour, and am looking forward to having a mini crop of edible flowers. I love night scented stock, so hope I can grow it here. Fingers crossed! Any advice always welcome.

So since I can’t get out in the garden to do anything, and I have nothing much to report from indoors. let me show you instead a couple of flowers I have seen walking to work this week. Not quite in the spirit of this blogging meme really, but if you saw the rain, you would understand why. I spotted this lily growing beside a grave in Bolton Street Cemetery one morning and love the way it is pushing its way through the fence.

Fingers crossed the weather is better next week. In any case, I am of course looking forward to seeing everyone’s beautiful gardens in other parts of the world.
