This week’s small pleasures #123

It is February already – can you believe it? We have had a lot of lovely, sunny summer days, and have been making the most of the season. The featured image at the top of the post was taken on Sunday when we were walking about town, the one below on Tuesday. Poor Charlie has been finding it a bit too warm, and has been seeking shade and even sleeping on a towel that had been put in the freezer to cool him down.

I’ve mentioned the meadow of wildflowers in the Botanic Gardens a few times, and now there are also beehives. It’s also been interesting this summer to see more butterflies than usual in our garden – it’s either the wildflowers or all the herbs.

Beehives (not the Beehive…)

I love summer vegetables (well, I love winter vegetables too…), such as tomatoes (which of course are fruit…), courgettes, aubergines, crisp cucumber. Here are some seen at the market on Sunday.

Tomatoes and courgettes
Tomatoes, sweetcorn, lots of basil, good olive oil, seasoning and a little white wine vinegar

Instead of my usual poached eggs on Saturday, I treated myself to beans on toast with a little cheese on the top. I can’t remember when I last had this!

And that’s it for this week. What were your small pleasures of the past week?

Thanks to Mani over at A New Life Wandering for the original idea.
