It’s Saturday, it’s summer and the sun is shining. After last year’s awful summer, we have been blessed this year with lots of warm and sunny days. This hasn’t stopped me from trawling the internet for interesting things. Here are six for you to try out too.
Lacking inspiration when you open your wardrobe? Want to learn about sustainable fashion? Always wanted to know how to draw fabrics or how to tie scarves? Then this is the place to be. A professional fashion and jewellery designer, Justine’s website, YouTube channel and Instagram are worth checking out. She also has a wonderfully soothing voice.
If there is anyone out there who can show the world that vegan food is more than tofu and chickpeas, it is Gaz Oakley, the chef behind Avant Garde Vegan. I love watching his videos (you have to check out the vegan fish and chips…I so want to try this), and he has such an engaging manner too. Definitely a case of vegan food porn. And he has a book out too.
Based in “the armpit of Denmark” (her words), Signe Hansen is another sustainable fashion/minimalist ‘influencer’, but one who does this with humour and style. I’m new to her channel and website, but enjoying what I see and hear.
Our own local Lucy Revill’s blog is a great read whether or not you live in Wellington. Her latest post is very well worth reading for all bloggers, whether small (like me) or big.
I love this website and often return to it. You’ll be driven to read or re-read books, in my case, Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar (if you know the book, remember the crab, avocado and mayonnaise incident).
And do catch The Anna Edit‘s brief guide to New Zealand….and with a headline picture of the cable car in Wellington!

You can find Thistles and Kiwis on Facebook, and also on Instagram@thistleandkiwis. As for Twitter….am totally inactive these days. If you want to get in touch, email me on thistlesandkiwis@gmail.com
PS – Signe Hansen lives in Kolding I believe.
Hi,
I have just had a wander over to The Little Library Café. What a wonderful blog. I am now following it as what is more lovely than reading and eating – one inspiring the other. I will have a look at your other links too. A good way to spend Sunday morning. Judi
