For those of us ‘down under’, Christmas marks the start of summer holidays, of long days hopefully in the sun, of barbecues and beaches. We’ve had a lot of good weather so far this year, though the lack of rain where we are is something to be concerned about. Wellington went for 28 days without rain, until a proper downpour on Wednesday. Walking to work just takes a few minutes more, as I stop to look at what is in bloom or watch a kererū (the New Zealand pigeon) in the trees.

The back yard is running wild, my little courgette plant is flowering, and I must get the marigolds repotted this weekend.

What’s the weather doing where you are? Snow or sunshine?
