This week has been all about food, from burgers to scones (see last two posts here (about scones) and here). It has also been a week of planning, booking tickets for things and looking ahead. Here are a few of this week’s small pleasures.
Flowers
Yes! Spring is here! The kowhai is blooming, daffodils are out and there are signs of warmer days ahead.

The small things that count
A haircut, Pilates, taking a moment to stop and look at things in the Botanic Gardens, Charlie the cat’s cute little face, a new pair of socks….

An Exhibition of Tiny Portions
We managed to catch An Exhibition of Tiny Portions, part of Wellington on a Plate, but an exhibition rather than an eating event. It featured iconic Wellington dishes from well-known places, but in miniature. Rose Young, the artist behind this, did a wonderful job. I loved the fact that some of the real food was there too, such as Leeds Street Bakery’s salted caramel cookies.

Thanks to Mani at A New Life Wandering for the original idea (hope the pregnancy is going well!). Also check out Middle Europe’s small pleasures.
You can find Thistles and Kiwis on Facebook, and also on Instagram @blof678. As for Twitter….am totally inactive these days. If you want to get in touch, email me on thistlesandkiwis@gmail.com
