So here we are again with a round up of this week’s small pleasures. This is such a good exercise, as it makes you think about the fact that even though the week might not have been too good, there are always things around to make you smile. And this week was another not so good week I am afraid, with even a day off sick from work on Friday. Still, let’s not dwell on that and focus instead on the little things that makes us smile.
The Botanic Gardens
Daffodils are poking their heads above the ground, and the Japanese magnolia is coming in to bloom.

Views from the air
I had to go to Nelson for work, and had some great views coming into the city. The fog earlier in the day had cleared, and this is what could be seen.

Saturday morning tea
Time for tea at Ekor Book Café, probably my favourite place for a cuppa in Wellington. They have a great selection of teas (love the spiced chai) and great treats like date scones too. Oh and a lovely, eclectic mix of books too.

This week’s shopping
You may think that this week’s basket has been inspired by all the reading and viewing of last week (see last post), but actually there was a chicken and some sausages too. I picked up some kasza or buckwheat as we haven’t had it for ages and it is so good on a cold day. Also in the basket were some yams (the little red things) and baby turnips to roast with the chicken and golden beetroot. I also picked up some sauerkraut, which I love, and which is currently so fashionable, and tahini, to add something to planned lunch time salads. Also in there was broccoli (love those stems!), tarragon for the chicken and very unseasonal yellow tomatoes, which were on offer, and will satisfy my craving for fresh ones (which is not helped by pictures from summer in the northern hemisphere).

Thanks to Mani at A New Life Wandering for the original idea. Check out Middle Europe and as well.

I love the colours of the tea tray cloth everything is sitting on – looks like it might be a Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired design? 🙂

You are right! It is a Rennie Macintosh design. Think it is too nice to dry dishes!
