It’s been really hard to think of some small pleasures this week. It hasn’t been a good week what with one thing and another, but if you look hard you can always find some things to bring a smile to the face, whether it be a humble toasted sandwich or seeing the sun again after cold, grey, windy and wet days.
This week’s food shopping
Well, not a lot in the basket as we are both travelling (for work, not pleasure, and not at the same time or to the same place) this week. However, I will have to cook for myself on Wednesday and Thursday, so picked up some halloumi and a pack of mini root vegetables which included both a red beetroot and an orange one. Let’s see how I get on with them. I will report on beetroot adventure number 2 later (see here for beetroot adventure number 1). I also got some red chard (just love the colour!), salami, sour dough bread and some pineapple bits for baking at some point. Question: why did the package say gluten free, dairy free, vegan? Surely that is obvious?

Getting some seeds
I’ve decided it’s about time I grew some micro greens, so ordered some up from King’s Seeds. I’ll keep you informed, but as yet I need new trays and some more potting compost.

The film of the book
Watching Michael Pollan’s film with the same name as his book, In Defense of Food. Read, watch, learn!
Time for tea
And yes my usual small pleasures…a cup of tea, Pilates classes……and the weekend.

Thanks to Mani at A New Life Wandering for the original idea. Check out Middle Europe and Tiny Obsessions as well.
You can find Thistles and Kiwis on Facebook, and also on Instagram @blof678. As for Twitter….am totally inactive these days. If you want to get in touch, email me on thistlesandkiwis@gmail.com.
Doesn’t matter if some of the pleasures are “the usual”! 🙂 In fact, I think it’s great that some of the same things can remain pleasures for us week after week.
