This week’s small pleasures #56

It has been so hard to get back into work after our holiday…especially as I had to go up to Auckland mid week.  There have been a few small pleasures though: that moment when I found some smoked salmon in the fridge, a conversation about cake making with the check out guy at the supermarket, and a wonderful massage on Saturday.  There were some others too, such as the realisation that Charlie first came to visit us two years ago, checking out our house and seeing if it matched the previous visitors’ notes in Kelburn Cat Trip Advisor.

A lovely view

When I do a work trip, I always try to find some little pleasure along the way.  This week it was the sunset in Auckland.

Decent weather

It’s winter, it has been a bit cold, but we have had some lovely sunny days, which always lift the spirit.  I spotted someone swimming one lunch time during the week – a brave or mad soul?

Not quite warm enough for swimming?  Someone thought so…

This week’s shopping

Picked up some silver beet for a green leafy vegetable, carrots to add to soup, yellow yams for a change, some rye bread and a bar of dark chocolate.  Note the tea towel…my one nod to the rugby fever hitting the town right now.

Sunday morning

Spending time catching up on two weeks of posts on Bloglovin’.  It’s so hard though reading about summer in the northern hemisphere when it is winter here!  Anyway, top favourites this morning were, the always excellent and inspiring, The Anna Edit and Love and Lemons, which made me long for summer foods.

Thank to Mani at A New Life Wandering for the original idea.  Check out Middle Europe and Tiny Obsessions as well.

You can find Thistles and Kiwis on Facebook, and also on Instagram @blof678.  As for Twitter….am totally inactive these days.  If you want to get in touch, email me on thistlesandkiwis@gmail.com.
