If you get tired of being in the city of Sydney, and the weather is good, hop on a ferry and go to the beach. On Wednesday we did just that, and took the ferry over to Manly. The trip is worth it on its own, with excellent views of both the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. The ferries run every twenty minutes, so no worries if you miss one!

The ferry terminal at Manly was bigger than I expected for some reason, and it is only a short walk from there to the beaches. The featured image picture at the top of the post gives you an idea of what it is like – sand, surf and sea.

After lunch, we did the short walk along the Cabbage Tree Bay Eco-Sculpture Walk to Shelly Beach. The walk goes past the Fairy Bower baths, a fenced off swimming area.

We were even lucky enough to meet some lizards on our stroll, who seemed to be quite used to being stared at by tourists.

On our way back to the ferry, we happened upon Fika, a Swedish owned and themed cafe, so had to stop for a drink. Pity we hadn’t found it for lunch…the thought of proper Swedish meatballs was too tempting!
