This week’s small pleasures: blogmas 19th December

Christmas is almost here, but there is always time to reflect back on the small pleasures of the last 7 days.  Here are a few from this week.

Sunshine and strawberries

Christmas scones

Cranberry and lemon scones, baked on Saturday, combined summery lemon with Christmas cranberries.  All you need to do is…preheat the oven to 240C and grease a baking sheet.  Combine 450g self-raising flour, a pinch of salt, 1 teaspoon brown sugar, the grated zest of a lemon and a cupful of dried cranberries.  Rub in 60g butter, then stir in 430ml (you might need a bit less) buttermilk to mix to a soft dough.  Turn onto a floured surface, need to smooth, cut into rounds and bake for about 10-15 minutes depending on your oven.

Tea and scone in the sun

Summer cider with elderflower

Peaches and nectarines

Summer fruits

Pilates, finishing a big task at work in record time, having time to read and sit in the sun…and getting a huge pile of ironing done.

Thanks to Mani over at A New Life Wandering for coming up with the idea.
