If we were having coffee…or even a cup of tea, we would probably try to sit outside, but it is almost too hot, so we might move indoors into the shade and sip something cool. We would listen to the noisy cicadas, and remark how much we love summer days.
If we were having coffee…or even an iced tea, we would talk about the incredible weather we’ve been having in Wellington. Day after day of summer sunshine and lunch time walks by the waterfront.

If we were having coffee…or even an iced tea, I would tell you how I had been watching some blackberries that were poking through the fence on the steps up to the house. They were unripe on Wednesday, ripe on Friday…and gone by Saturday morning.
The case of the disappearing blackberries
If we were having coffee…or even an iced tea, you’d ask me how my shoulder is, and I would tell you it was gradually getting better, thanks to the physiotherapist. I would also say how frustrating it is, but that it is on the mend.
If we were having coffee…or even an iced tea, we would talk about nectarines and plums, peaches and apricots, and how they are just so good and still plentiful at the moment.
If we were having coffee…or even an iced tea…and were still talking…then we would look at our watches and declare it was officially evening, and pour ourselves a long gin and tonic. Naturally, you are staying for dinner, which is salmon fillets, roasted (brush with oil and seasoning and cook at 200C until cooked). And blueberries for desert.
Cheers! (the gin is Bombay Amber (see review) and the tonic Fever Tree)

Lovely photos and writing. We have -45C windchill this morning – I’m just a bit envious!
