I always enjoy reading the series of posts on this week’s small pleasures over at A New Life Wandering, so thought I’d have a go at it this week.
Lunch time walks
I have posted so many pictures of the waterfront at Wellington over our three years here, that by now regular readers might feel that they have almost walked along it themselves (the header picture of this blog is looking over the water at part of the city). Since I work in the CBD (central business district), I am only a few minutes away from the waterfront, and when the weather is fine, I like to take a stroll, people watch and enjoy the view. I’ve seen a few brave souls swimming recently, as well kayakers (is there such a word?) and the ubiquitous runners.
Swimmer in Wellington city centre
I love the poems and quotes you can spot along the way. These are part of the Wellington Writers Walk, quotations from 23 New Zealand authors, commenting on and celebrating the city. One I particularly like, is found by the place to sit overlooking the view below:
It’s true you can’t live here by chance,
you have to do and be, not simply watch
or even describe. This is the city of action,
the world headquarters of the verb –

Fruit
This is the season for stone fruit, and cherries, plums, apricots, peaches and nectarines are in abundance. There are stalls along the main street and also near where we live selling fruit, and it is so easy to be tempted. There are also still plentiful strawberries (see this post here) and blueberries.

Pilates
Always a pleasure! One of life’s great pleasures perhaps.
Our enviroment
We are so lucky to live where we do. Every day I listen to the birds (often woken up by them) and watch the changing seasons on the footpath.
Friday
Nothing beats coming home from work, sitting on the terrace with a much needed drink, and switching off. Even better when Monday is a holiday too….

So nice! I enjoyed reading these, I love that place where you can take walks, I love fruit, and coming home and chilling with a drink is always good, so is exercise! All of them really. Have a great weekend! And I hope you’ll enjoy participating more often.
