The Sunday of our stay in Leigh, began with an excellent breakfast made up of left overs from the night before, along with fried eggs, bacon, tomato and mushrooms. It was quite amazing we could all eat so much after the night before, but nothing beats a cooked breakfast on a winter morning. We enjoyed walking around the area before leaving for Auckland and our flight back to Wellington.

The friends who invited us are getting married here next year, so we are looking forward to coming back in the summer. It is going to be a perfect setting for the wedding.

The secluded beach looks magical!

Yes it does! It just sort of ‘appeared’ as we were walking down the hill.

Isn’t Leigh quite a special place? We spent between Christmas and New Year up there, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Did you get a chance to stop at the Matakana Markets? And Goat Island? And there certainly is something special about a full cooked brekkie when on holiday!

Yes it’s lovely. We went to the markets on the Saturday, but didn’t have time for Goat Island as we were just there for the weekend, but will definitely go back.
