Postcards from Hamburg 2

Close to where we are based, is Ottensen, an area of the city full of cafes, independent shops, and lots of interesting buildings (including the bar called Karl I mentioned in the last post). On Saturday, we had a good walk around, and I returned on Tuesday for a further browse of the shops (because this is much easier to do on one’s own!). Anyway, below are some of the buildings I spotted.

I loved this Weinstube, complete with a large bunch of grapes. It was closed, but it might be fun to see what it looks like inside.

When we stopped for a beer, I spotted this face up at the top of the building opposite. He looks like a 16th century adventurer – what do you think?

There are all sorts of shops, from clothes to flowers, from kitchen equipment to nuts. The sign with the squirrel is for a shop selling, yes nuts, and other snacks. I need to go back and have a look inside rather than just through the window.

The buildings below include one called Photo Haus – I would love to find out more about this building and might see what I can find. The florist in the third picture has featured in other posts with its wonderful displays.

Finally, look through the ally to the bright blue house beyond. I wanted to go and take more pictures here on Tuesday but there were workmen busy with something, so that will have to wait until another day.

So, these are my postcards from Ottensen, Hamburg. More postcards hopefully next week.
