It wasn’t a huge year for trips away – partly as both of us had a few work trips (Karl’s much more exciting than mine….he got to go to Europe twice), partly just time and other things.
Anyway, the year started with a short trip up to Hawke’s Bay, using as usual Napier as our base. The weather wasn’t the best, but we enjoyed a lot of good food (lunch at Craggy Range, to be repeated again next month), dinners at Central Fire Station Bistro and Hunger Monger, as well as food shopping. When we were in Havelock North, we popped into Bellatino’s Food Lovers Market, a gorgeous little deli with a lot of local produce and of course Wardini Books. We also went to one of my favourite food shops, Vetro, where I could have spent a fortune, and take a good hour just browsing.

Despite being in my moon boot, we headed as planned over to Greytown for a long weekend in May, staying at the beautiful Briarwood (bottom left). While there we went to the Cobblestones Museum, had lunch at The Runholder and generally relaxed.

In August we popped over to Sydney, enjoying walking a lot, going to some great exhibitions and museums, eating lots of good food and generally enjoying the city. You can read more about our trip here.
